Data mining or ETL/Reporting

 Hi  all,

I have 2 years experience in data mining working with tools like spss and R.

Is it good to switch to ETL based work on informatica or reporting tools like Cognos.

Although I am interested in statistics I am on the research side for 2 years.

For project experience can I move to ETL/Reporting?

What is the scope of Data mining or Data scientist.

Is Data mining better than normal ETL/Reporting.

I am totally confused please guide
