Re: 8 Ways to Boost Your Career in '08

Hi Adrian,

I am hoping that I can get some guidance in getting back into IT - more specifically into a BA role. I was a BA 5 years ago. I am now trying to get back into IT. More specifically, I would like to get into a role within a healthcare IT org. What would you recommend to someone like me that has been out of the industry for so long do?

Should I be looking at getting re-trained and if so on what? should I take a certification program specifically for a healthcare environment and if so, which would you recommend? Finally, does MA allow or sell a learning version of your sw to learn?

Regards,

Re: 8 Ways to Boost Your Career in '08

If you are looking to get back into the BA role, I would recommend taking some courses geared towards business analysts.  There are many vendors which offer such  business analysis training.

As far as the industry goes - I think that if you have an interest in the healthcare industry then the best way would be to try to get a job in that industry.  My advice to you would be to focus on your BA skills first since if you got that down you should have no problem getting a job in any industry.  The best way to learn a specific vertical industry is to work in that domain.

Hope this helps!

- Adrian
