I am new to this forum, to BA also. Need some advice, please.

As of now, I am familiar with use case, functional specs, and creating UI. What are other basic stuff I need to know - i know there's a LOT MORE but for starters, which areas are important and repeated often? Which software useful?

Also a doubt: is writing BR essential? I normally create UI and prepare functional specs on that basis.... is this enough?
