Hi,
With Bear Stearns collapse and Lehman Brothers following the same path, financial industry seems to be very unstable area for a Business Analyst. It might take atleast a decade or less to heal all the financial mess because of the Housing market crisis that is effecting every american. I think the Healthcare sector will always grow regardless of the economic situation. Any thoughts or ideas as to what sector will or is expected to grow in the near future for Business Analyst?
Thanks,
A good business analyst should have no problem moving from one vertical domain to another as the key skills are transferable to any industry. From a job security standpoint, it might seem that the health care industry would be a good bet - but that can always change. Intelligence/defense is another area which seems to be growing fairly fast.
As far as the financial services industry goes, it's sad to see big and established players such as Bear Stearns, and now Lehman Brothers & Merrill Lynch, go by the wayside.
The reality is that it is a very complex domain - which is why it was and is hard to regulate and oversee. This, in turns, makes it even clearer why well qualified business analysts will always have an important role in the financial sector.
