What does (Cross Functional) really mean?

I was just wondering if anyone could shine some insight on a position that is marked BA - Cross Functional.  What does this exactly mean in your opinion.? Sorry for the one off question but I really have no idea what it means.  Maybe it is meant to be that way.

Re: What does (Cross Functional) really mean?

Hi,

A bit of context would be great. But here is how I look at the 'Cross functional' aspect in a BA's job profile:

1. Expertise across more than 1 domain (business and/or technology) :

In case of Telecom industry, a BA can be cross functional if he/she understands Service Assurance and CRM.

A cross functional BA can be well versed in the capabilities of traditional 3 tier architecture applications and/or using Big Data concepts in his/her solution to solve a business problem.

2.  Readiness to don more than one hat (which is always the case, stated explicitly or not :) )

Requirements, design + tracking projects + managing funds for the projects + people management + maybe even code a bit

In the title of the position.  I believe number 2 in  your definitions nails it.   Of course that's just my opinion.  Thanks.
