Hello Team,
This is priyanka, I have around 2 years of development experience , and later worked as business analyst for 5-6 months but It was not specifically in one vertical(domain). Now due to some personal reasons , I have taken around a Month's Gap and would like to enhance my skills and would again go for Job. I wanted to ask how to gather domain expertise and considering my background which domain is prefferable, please make a note that it will be more of self study and not field exposure as I have already given up on job currently. I would like to know what certifications will be available at this stage of experience.
please Excuse me if this topic is discussed before, I am new to the site , I hope I am posting appropriate question in relevant area.
Please guide , your one word can help me a lot !
Thanks in advance,
Priyanka
Hi Priyanka
What do you mean by domain?
Hi Craig,
What i mean by domain is "Vertical"
in Simple terms - Field/Sector in which you work/would like to work.
e.g. banking, Insurance, Telecomm, Retail, Pharmaceutical etc
Normally Job vaccancies specify domain required.
Thanks for reverting,
With that said, pharmaceuticals/healthcare will continue to be a very hot industry for the next 10-20 years in my opinion. I also think banking/financial services will always be strong over the long run, though in the short term they are having a slump like everyone else.
Although industry domain knowledge does seem to be important to recruitment firms. It is something else that can put you head of the competition for the race to the interview...
Once you get to that interview though it's the analyst skills that are important.
