 Hi All,

I have more than 6 years of experience in IT industry and have worked in Web Technology like Java,

In my career i was involved in Requirement gathering, Designing, Coding, Testing,

Onshore-Offshore co ordination, leading team and have worked at both onshore and offshore.

I have majorly worked in Banking and Finance domain and have exposure to Insurance and Retail domain.

Re: IT professional towards Business Analysis

Hi

I am in a similar position having worked as an analyst programmer for some years I was promoted to the role of business analyst and then senior business analyst.  I chair the project workshops/status meetings and work with the business to define processes, etc however I have no formal qualifications.

I have not been asked to follow any methodology and the nature of the role is extremely 'free-form'.  All my knowledge has been gleaned whilst on the job and I am keen to try and formalise this experience.

My fear is that if I apply for a BA role elsewhere I will be required to have certifications etc and have none and have not used any recognised methods, so will naturally be overlooked.

Can anybody provide a 'game plan' for becoming a fully qualified Business Analyst?  What qualifications should I be trying to get - which are the most recognised?  Should I be trying to get industry recognised qualifications or are there alternatives courses that provide a better grounding and use better methodologies?

Any advise would be appreciated.
