Hi All
Ive just found this forum through the LinkedIn website. Ive only been on here a couple of days but i have to say there is alot of very good information on here and i think you may struggle to get rid of me now
A bit about me: Im 26, started off in IT support and somehow worked my way into looking after several websites, then i got made redundant and while looking for a new job i realised that i had been doing the role of a BSA for a couple of years. So started applying for those roles and a year later im still here.
I do like to keep the 'S' in BSA as i feel i am more on the technical side of things, The only downside is i have never been to University or had any analyst training. so everything that i have picked up about Use cases, UML, DFD's, requirements etc has been self taught and therefore a very slow and painful process. Im hoping to go on some formal ISEB qualification courses in the next year or two and maybe do my PRINCE 2 aswell because the main thing i lack is confidence that i am doing things the correct way.
Keep up the good work and i hope to get to know you all soon.
Ken

Hi Ken,
Welcome to the community!
Given your background and current state, I would definitely recommend taking some formal courses in Business Analysis.

Thanks for the welcome guys.
I am definately on the look out for formal training im just tring to find the time and trying to convince my boss to pay for it... which in these times is a pretty big task.
Ken,
I have written an article that gives some justification for the Business Analyst role (which was published in the November e-Journal of ModernAnalyst.com) - my website also has other BA resources you might find useful.
