advice

Hello all,

Quick background: I am currently a software developer with roughly 5 years total experience. I have been researching the role of BA and am very interested; in fact, since I work with a small team I find myself performing BA tasks(i.e. gathering requirements from business people, figuring out the business goal, relaying information to developers, etc.). As far as my education , I have a B.S in Computer Science and a minor in Applied Mathematics. I am actually a pretty good software developer but I have a strong desire to work closely with people and solve problems at a higher level. I do enjoy learning technology, but I use technology as a "means to an end" to achieve the business goal. To make a long story short, I think it's time for me to move into the business world and I need some advice.

So my question is what can I do to help myself transition into the BA role? Should I try to grab any certifications? Should I read any specific material? If I wrote down all of my experience as a software developer I think a large portion of it would be relevant as I worked closely with the business and helped define requirements.

Thanks in advance!
