Defining Business Analysis.

Business analysis is the discipline of identifying business needs and determining solutions to business problems. Solutions often include a systems development component, but may also consist of process improvement or organizational change. The person who carries out this task is called a business analyst or BA.

Business Analysis is a method of practice employed to reduce organizational risks by identifying business problems and needs, in a form of requirements management which drives the business solutions life cycle from strategy to operational results, assuring that business value is realized. Furthermore, business analysis should be applied and maintained throughout the business solution development life cycle.
