Website CMS & Asset Migration

Hi All,

I am a long time lurker and have learnt a lot throughout my BA career by reading here. This is my first post and I am in a bind. I'm hoping someone here is able to give some sort of advice.

I have a client meeting and have to discuss asset migration. My question is two fold: facilitation and documentation. The client is in the process of moving their digital properties to a new CMS. The work is done in an agile environment. I am working on this as a consultant who can help streamline the process. The lack of a PMO (or Project Director) has meant that all disciplines are doing their work in their own silos. My client is on the content side and is worried about asset migration from the old DAM to the new DAM within the new CMS.

Types of assets: pdf's, ppt's, word docs etc that would accompany content types (articles, products, thought leadership content, cases studies) on the site as downloadable material.

How would you recommend approaching this conversation? Who do I need to talk to (who else do I need in the room)? How do I facilitate this conversation? The number of assets in this case are about 2000 in count. Of-course I understand that there needs to be a tagging matrix for each of the content type that provides taxonomy as well as tags. What else do I need?

How do I start documenting this? Do I account for each asset and cross reference with the template/page it will go on?

Any ideas on this is highly appreciated.

 Best,

 T

I learned from my Grandma June and her kitchen was her sanctuary, a small, warm sunlit space filled with jars of spices, stacks of cookbooks, and the comforting smell of something always on the stove or baking in the oven. Grandma June was as great a cook as she was a teacher to me. She never followed a recipe “to...

What is it? This hasn't been a call center job or a sales job as we all think. It is a mammoth profile, and firms are grappling to ge...
