Business Analysts - Where do you go to search for new Job
I'm curious as to what sites everyone posts thier resumes to and where you go on the web to search for jobs.  Is everyone using the traditional Craigslist, Monster, Careerbuilder, Hotjobs?  Or are you looking at sites like this one and other user communities/groups.

Patrick-

As a systems analyst/manager I often used Monster, Hotjobs, Dice, and The Vault. But I have long been waiting for a business analyst and systems analyst coummunity like this one that offers a focused job board; one where I don't have to weed through millions of unrelated jobs. On a site so focused on business analysts and systems analysts I would imagine that anywhere from 20-50% of the jobs posted might relate to me, or anyone else in the community, depending on their work experience. That's a pretty high rate (just a guess of course).

It appears that the job board on this site is relatively new. I'm assuming that they are going to be taking steps to get it up and running at full speed.

What does everyone else think?

-Chris

Re: Business Analysts - Where do you go to search for new Job

In Australia the two websites to use are www.seek.com.au and www.mycareer.com.au but they are not the best way to geta  job.

Most good IT jobs are placed through either an employment agency, specialising in IT or similar, or through small boutique consulting forms.  For example I work with an excellent team at www.optimiseit.com.au. If you go to Seek, Monster, Hotjobs or wherever you should have a look at which firms are doing the advertising and contact them directly.  You'll be able to have a more wide ranging talk about your particular interests without having to mind your pitch in front of the end-client.  (You still need to be business like, prepared and professional.)

This approach will get you a better placement - one that s more aligned to your skills and interests and possibly more money than you would otherwise have gotten.  They often also help with resume and interview skills.

Re: Business Analysts - Where do you go to search for new Job

Thanks for your response Chris.  Those are ones that I use or have used in the past, what I don't like about those sites is that they are mostly active job seekers.  I am looking for additional avenues to find the ones that are not actively looking, the more passive that have not been put through the ringer by multiple agencies/firms and whom my clients could not otherwise find.  I have had some success with Jigsaw, Zoominfo, Linkedin, and other networking sites.  I have signed on here as an additional way to find the type of candidates I need, ones who are vested in their career, have a willingness to learn, be active in a community such as this and that are always looking fo way's to become better at what they do.

To your question I believe Adrian and the crew will be getting this up to speed and there will be more memebers daily.  It might not hurt for us to spread the word : ).
