Hi Qwertyjjj,
As a BA Manager and Deputy Change Director, I would personally say that that is quite short sighted. Theoretically, a Product Owner could do the BA's role, but they do a lot of their own work as well, so I would have thought that would rather over load them.
I know a number of people here in the UK and abroad (including the US), that have the same type of role as me and I cant recall any of them getting rid of their BA's.
As far as I am concerned, there is still very much a job for the BA. They may work more closely with other people in Agile, but I don't regard that as a bad thing.
The role of a Business Analyst (BA) in Agile SDLC is definitely still important, even though Agile emphasizes self-organizing teams. A BA helps bridge the gap between the business stakeholders and the development team, ensuring that the requirements are well-understood and prioritized. They also contribute to defining the scope and setting the project vision. While Scrum Master and Product Owner roles often overlap with some aspects of a BA's responsibilities, having a dedicated BA can ensure that business requirements are clearly articulated and that technical and business goals are aligned.
