Recommendations for business analyst software that supports requirements traceability?

This is my first posting to the Modern Analyst forum so please be gentle :)

I am working for an enterprise client that is considering introducing software tools for their business analysis team, and I wanted to ask for recommendations from fellow business analysts. The individual development teams use JIRA for Agile development and the business analysts currently populate Epics and User Stories straight into JIRA which works relatively well for the smaller projects (50-100 User Stories, say).

However, there are some larger projects on the horizon (500+ User Stories) and those projects will need better requirements traceability which I think might be more of a stretch for JIRA which is obviously more of a development tool than business analyst software.

Q. What would you consider to be the industry standard tools for business analysis requirements gathering?
Q. What software would you personally recommend for this scale of project?
Q. Are there any industry standard tools that interface directly with JIRA?

Re: Recommendations for business analyst software that supports requirements traceability?
I've worked with Jira before and my favourite is Excel when it comes to large large projects with parallel tracks. Jira is great from issue tracking perspective with dashboarding and reporting features loved by team leads and PM's but it's bit slow and from requirement gathering perspective there's always this issue of structuring the requirements and tracking requirements, which I feel is better handled in excel. I've added some features of dashboarding and reporting in Excel using macros and it's excellent for tracking user stories.
