Goals for Business Analysts in 2010

I hope that you're all enjoying the last few days of 2009 and are looking forward to what awaits in 2010.

I've been thinking about goals for Business Analysts for the next 12 months.  5 goals that I came up with are:

  • Think beyond the project
  • Promote Business Analysis throughout the organization
  • Leverage technology to reduce manual tasks
  • Move your BA processes up the CMMI scale
  • Engage with other business analysts more

Do you have goals you think BAs should consider taking up for 2010?  Have you committed to some goals as a Business Analyst for the coming year?

Re: Goals for Business Analysts in 2010

Hi:

Goal for BAs:  Analysis is about partitioning.  So the goal is to understand how use cases, BPM techniques, data flow diagrams, and activity diagrams each support the partitioning effort.

The above is necessary to achieve the higher level goal of understanding how to position each of these techniques relative to each other.  There really is more to it than "gut feelings".
