Functional Requirements
Modified By Chris Adams on 8/28/2013 5:08:51 PM)

 Dear All,

Need some clarifications:
1. Functional Requirement (functional Specifications) :With use case diagram approach, Are the functional Requirements derived from the use case descriptions. OR is it that the use case descriptions are itself treated as Functional Requirements for the system and are an input to the Design / Development  Team for the design and Coding Purpose? the BA involvement expected in the Database design /Application Design and System Architecture ,IF so to what extent?
3. Are the prototypes developed for the entire applications during the Requirement gathering  analysis phase or is it only a slice of application is there in prototypes and entire application screens are designed during user interface design with the prototypes as a guide?
3.Ayone Presently involved in BA role, Please share in brief as to what all activities do keep you involve in your Day to Day Activity? possible please share a the format"How you start to finally how you conclude your day "?
Please see if we can collectively contribute to the answer as these are pertaining to interview Questions

Re: Functional Requirements

1)  I've seen it done both ways.  Personally, if I'm going to develop well-written and well-defined use cases, a laundry list of "system shall" statements is redundant and a wasted effort.

2) Again, I've seen it done both ways and to various extents.  It all depends on the needs of the organization and/or the project team.  I tend to get involved in the pieces of design that deal with user experience, but I know some BAs who have deep technical skills and do database and architecture design.

3) I'm getting repetitive, I know, but yep I've seen prototypes developed in many different stages of construction.  Some are no more than drawings (literally, on whiteboards or paper) and some are high-fidelity using tools like iRise, and others are actual code that needs only tweeks and "prettification" to go to production.

4) Sorry, but I haven't the time at the moment to address this one.  Maybe I'll come back in another month?  LOL
