Re: Conversion and Integration project

Hi:

Focus on the unchanging buisiness essentials.  Postpone considering implementation considerations until the appropriate time (i.e., after you know the unchanging business essentials).

if you business is realtively simple, start with as is modeling of the essentials using a sequence oriented technique.

If your business is complex, start with a high-level context diagram, and decompose downwards using essential data flow diagrams.  Then at the detail level, swtich over to a sequence oriented technique such as BPMN.

After you have completed process modeling, try data modeling.   Process drives data, so process model first.

 Hi Tony,

Thank you for your response. I will really appreciate if you brokedown the terminology used so I grasp your explaination in detail. The Info you are advising me is what I will actually implement.

Please note that the business is complex and will entail 6 project streams  for integration of  2 businesses that include communications, legal, IT, finance, operations, & HR.

Please advise accordingly.

Thanks in advance.
