Need Help!!

Hi Adrian,

Happy New Year 2010

I am Nidhi... have newly Joined in.... Need good Guidence re: Career Movement

My Current Role: I am currently working as Onsite Coordinator. My Job Role is of Manual Tester and Analyst.

To describe my Role : I initally worked as Developer for 2 years in diff project. In my current Project i am responsible for requirement gathering , Elicitation , Business Walkthroughs and underdstanding Business Needs. During this duration , have build good rapport with Customer and Business Users. I am able to gather functional , user needs , identify gaps /fairly generate requirements and communicate areas of improvement during CSP review. Though CSP creation and rework is shared between developers and self.

I am also activily involved into testing and am resposible for UAT Walkthroughs , sign-offs and Production Support. At Onsite i am the only resource and developers are placed offshore. Our client base are located at various geographical location and timezones.

Area of interest :BA role

Have attended online training courses/tests offered by oraganisation in the training calender. Though still feel that this is not enough to start as BA.

Have studied IIBA BOK  and tried to use/implement this knowlwdge in my project.

Our organisation offers AHBAP courses, had enrolled for it but unfortunatly due to long waiting list missed that opportunity .

Seek Guidence :

I would like to become BA , my current proj might not offer any further growth in this role.I am currently located in India (Noida/gurgaon) for reference.

kindly suggest what shall i do to become a BA.

Thanks in Advance,

Regards,

Nidhi

Re: Need Help!!

Hi Nidhi,

Based on your description it sounds like you already do much of the work of a business analyst: understand business needs, elicit requirements, identify gaps, communicate areas of improvement, etc.

In addition - given that you have development background you probably are comfortable with systems analysis as well.

From my perspective you are a BA even though your title might not say that.  You also seem to be a self starter which a key trate of a business analyst.

Continue doing what you're doing, don't worry to much about your actual job title, create a resume which highlights your BA experience, and believe in yourself.

Hope this helps!

- Adrian
