Required Software Analysis and Design Approach with Diagrams
Modified By anonymous on 3/17/2008 8:37:29 AM)
I would like to know that is there any web site where I can find complete procedure of software analysis and design. I have searched so many website but not able to get complete picture of it. Means I not only need the steps to do analysis and design but also step by step analysis approach, how to present it and how to design it with different diagrams (like DFD, Class diagrams, module diagrams) and so on before any programmer starts coding it. In short, a procedure which a software company follows to built an application.

Please, if any one can send me any sample documentation for the above mention stuff or guide me any web site, I would be very thankful to them.

Dear Rayyan,

Even I couldn't be able to find such a website which will provide facilities as you have mentioned.

But there are several sites are available that will take you accross  to modeling in a brief like,

www.agile.com , www.uml.org, etc. beside this there are numerous book available that will illustrate

from requirement gathering --> analyis model of system --> design and coding process like, 1>"Applying UML & Patterns"

by Craig Larman , 2> Use case driven Object modeling by Doug Rosenberg, 3> Practical OOAD using UML 2.0 etc.

Another aspect is that, modeling is very tough whether you use OOAD or SSAD approach, because these skills are gained over

years struggle and experience in software development field. Therefore gain  experience on some projects, and analyse

it within yourself, as you will overcome more and more difficulties you will find your questions are getting solved by yourself.

Regards,

Kumar Rohit.

Hi Rayyan,

For the most part, what you are looking for does not exist.  The actual steps, processes, procedures, artifacts, and tools used for systems analysis and design vary from project to project and organization to organization.  There isn't one process which works "as-is" for all scenarios.  For example, RUP (the Rational Unified Process) is a process that you can use out of the box; however you are expected to customize the process to your project's needs.

Anyway - here are two links which may help you out:

Rational Unified Process

OPEN Process Framework (OPF)

Hope this helps!
