Hello ..

Hello Everybody, thought I should drop a quick introduction by.

I was browsing through the IIBA website, when I came across this forum. The reason I was browsing thru the IIBA site was that I was under the impression that getting a CBAP cert. would help open up job prospects in the BA / Solution Architecture space. However, it turns out otherwise. I was looking at the handbook, and it says you need to already have atleast 5 years of BA work ex. to qualify for the exam. Phew, that is steep in my opinion, however, I'm sure it isn't baseless.

So  hope that this forum would help in terms of guidance towards to the certification, while I work up the credentials, and also hope to contribute to it if the oppurtunities come by . And cheers to the admins and core members of this forum, for putting this stuff together.

- Rehan.

Re: Hello ..

Hey Rehan,

Welcome to the forums.

While they say it's 5 years experience, they're actually looking for 7500 hours (which is about 4 years in my opinion).  Having a CBAP will help with job prospects in the long run, but right now the IIBA is still a relatively new organization.  There are less recognized certifications and/or post-secondary professional training that you can take to also improve you job prospects (and learn more about all the aspects that a BA may face in real life).
