Look up BPMN 2.0 on the internet. You should get lots of information. There are tools to help with it. I use Enterprise Architect from www.sparxsystems.com. They have white papers on their website too that should help. single user cost is about $US120 or something.
Bizagi handle it as well I think. Think Bizagi is free but I'm not sure. MS Visio if you buy the software extensions. there are lots of other tools as well.
