Hi Aishwarya,

Welcome to the Modern Analyst community!

What do you do in the role of "Proposal Analyst"? I have not heard about this role/title before.  What type of work product do you create, what tools do you use, who do you interact with?

Best regards,

- Adrian

Re: Proposal Analyst to Business Analyst

Hi Adrian,

Good to have a reply soon. In this profile. I create Request for Proposals(RFP s) from the client specification document.

To be clear,

Understand the client requirements and breakdown the tasks and estimate no.of hrs for each task, give knowledge to the client about few other features that can be implemented to make their requirement best. Do some R & D work to make the proposal easy so that the client accepts. This is my exact job profile.

For this I have to co-ordinate with the Project Manager's, Project Leads and estimate the requisites.

Will this help to set a career to a BA in future. The industry I work is Web Development.

Re: Proposal Analyst to Business Analyst

Hi Aishwarya,

Given your current role, it looks like you are in a good position.  The other part of the equation is aptitude and likes/dislikes.  You should take a look, if you have not done so already, at the types of tasks typically performed by a business analyst and determine if that is the type of work that you would like to do and that you would be good at.

I'll let you decide you likes and dislikes.  On the aptitude side you need to consider if you have or are willing to gain great communication skills, great analytical/critical thinking skills, as well as problem solving skills.  These skills would serve as the foundation for the BA career.  Then you can begin to acquire knowledge of specific method, techniques, methodologies, and tools which are commonly used by business analysts such as: Vision Document, Requirements Document, UML Diagram, Process Flows, etc.
