Peoplesoft,CRM, SAP, Need help!
Modified By dbose369 on 10/4/2012 3:42:29 PM)

 Hi All,

Since my contract is soon ending, I am looking for BA jobs in Bay Area, California. Most openings require knowledge of SAP, ERP, CRM, Peoplesoft, supply chain maangement to name a few. (hopefully I got those right). Other requirements are related database warehousing etc. Is this really the trend? Is anyone else facing the same situation or is it just me?

How do I learn them if not on job? I am stuck in chicken and egg situation. Anyone knows any company that is OK about providing on job training to BAs in any of these? Or any other way of learning the ERP, Peoplesoft stuff that will help me be considered for jobs? I am a very functional BA but open to learning new stuff.

Hope to get some advise.

Thank You

SAP is a German Software Company....they make SAP ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and SAP BW (Business Warehouse) products.

The programming language for SAP is ABAP (Advanced Business Application Programming) and is a high-level, COBOL-like programming language used to develop SAP applications.....you can usually find "How To Learn ABAP" books in a good bookstore or Amazon.  SAP run atop various underlying DBMSs (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.)

Check Out YouTube:

-----

Peoplesoft merged with JD Edwards several years ago and was bought out and now owned by Oracle. PeopleSoft EnterpriseOne became JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and PeopleSoft World became JD Edwards World.

They used to have a selection of databases to choose from (SQL Server, Oracle) but since Oracle took over, I'm sure they are pushing Oracle now.

If you know some kind of ERP or CRM system and/or SQL (SQL Server, Oracle, SYBASE, Etc.)....send them a resume....you have Nothing To Lose. Heck, send them a resume anyway...they might see something you previously did and like that.

I usually get into a place and then offer to help on things that come up whether you know it or not. Many places will ask for volunteers to do some additional work...people who have small work loads.....but those people usually put their heads down so they can't be seen. Go Tell the manager that if no one answers their call for help...to let you take a crack at it. I have been given many opportunities to learn new things and products that way....and many times it extended your contract to....like, Hey...while your fixing that...could you also do this?

Remember....If they don't like you....no one will come to your door and smack you around....they will just put your resume on the Rejected pile.

Good Luck
