Hi,
Can someone help me with Fast Fucntion Point sizing technique? I need to come up with a pilot estimation tool based on Fast Function Point approach. I tried to find about it over internet but no luck. It would be really great if someone can guide me/share something related to this technique.
Thanks,
Anshul
This sounds like a variation of "Function Point Analysis" which is an estimation technique. It's also used to determine the relative maintanance costs of systems.
While I haven't heard of Fast Function Points yet, you should be able to find quite a lot online for Function Point Analysis.
Another variation of this is called Use Case Points, which does similar estimation starting from use cases.

Chris,
Many thanks for your reply. Apparently Fast Function Point(FFP, hereafter) is a lightweight form of IFPUG function point and it has been developed by Gartner Consulting group. It takes into account "Medium" complexity for all transactions and data files. The advantage of using FFP is that it's much faster than IFPUG method and provides estimation with acceptable level of accuracy( 20-30% deviation from IFPUG methodolgy). I was particularly interested in knowing about pros and cons of using FFP and any sample template that could be used for FFP. But I guess, I will have to wait for some more time.
Can you please share your views on Use Case Points.
Cheers,
You can also consider COSMIC Function Point. It is ISO-certified (like IFPUG) and easier to use. Functional point counting is much more straight forward and manuals are also open to public (AFAIK).
