Project Management

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum,

I want to know what the best software project management methodology was/is. I am writing a paper, and want to talk about PRINCE2, but what other areas could I talk about?
What would you suggest the best way to employ methodologies for project management? I understand that software development such as the OO approach can be compared to the old structured approach but what about PRINCE2 and project management? I want to focus less on software design, development and more on managing the project.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
