how to build QA into the project

We have a number of projects where we utilise developers and QA.

In a number of cases, QA (offshore) doesn't always fully understand the software so I feel it might be necessary for a BA to supplu them with test cases, scenarios, etc.

But how can they do the QA properly if they don;t understand the changes? How can they do the regression testing without understanding the entire data chain?

Re: how to build QA into the project

 Qwerty,

Ideally, each business requirement or a set of requirements related to a Product Use case should have a Fit Criterion, which is a measurement of the requirement to finally understand

if the delivered solution meets the original requirement. These are what the testers normally use in their work along side creating test cases.

Is there a QA procedure in your organisation. Is it properly defined and documented as a process and it's interrelation with other processes?

If not, ask your BA to start his work.

Regards,

Lena

Re: how to build QA into the project

Sounds like QA is getting involved too late in the SDLC.  Ideally, acceptance criteria for delivered requirements is developed before coding begins and involves the entire team (stakeholders, BA, coders, and QA).  Sadly, this often does not happen, and if the QA team is offshore I can see how it would be difficult.  Can you request that a QA resource be made available to you as you are producting requirements?
