Requirement - Responsible entity
Modified By Keondo on 4/26/2011 1:03:26 AM)

 All,

I am curious on what everyone here thinks about attaching responsibility to individual business requirement. Responsibility here means identified team being tasked to carry out the implementation of the agreed business requirements. It could be IT responsible for implementing technical solution or business operation executing business processes.

The reason why I ask is that the role of the business analyst is to help define and document business requirements. To determine who will subsequently be responsible for the execution implies making a decision and soluiton.

Is it within the scope of a BA to determine a busines solution? Understand that it is not the role of BA to determine technical solution but what about business solution?

Re: Requirement - Responsible entity

Makes sense, but it's a traceability action in response to a solution approach.  Try to avoid assuming the solution in isolation.

But yes - once you know where the solution will be addressing the requirements it's a great idea.  Very useful for example for identifying the non technical work that is required.
