Recent Grad- critique my cover letter please

Hello there. I've been researching the business analyst role and am very intrigued by the position, or other similar analyst positions. Due to some unforseen circumstances in my life I had to stop for a bit and help my dad as he recovered from cancer, but now I am ready to find an actual job. I'd like to move out of my home state, Montana, but am unsure as to where to go. I really don't care where I go as much as I care that I am in the position to become an analyst of some sort. Anyway, I was hoping someone here could help me with my cover letter, I am trying to get an entry level job in a company that I can either move up in toward an analyst position, or at least gain enough experience to move onto a company where I can become one. Thanks in advance, any help is much appreciated.

Dear Hiring Manager:

I’ve recently graduated from Montana State University with a BS in Economics, and am not only willing to relocate, but am actively looking to move into your area. I’m very interested in an entry level or junior-level analyst position with your company with the ultimate goal of gaining experience in the field and becoming an _____ analyst.

Within my degree an emphasis was put on mathematical classes, going above and beyond the requirements. While deciding what to do after graduating, I began to learn certain technical skills as SQL and HTML/CSS to start building a few websites in order to get into a bit of search engine optimization, and internet/affiliate marketing in general. Both the technical skills of SQL and analytic skills of math make me a strong potential candidate for the analyst position.

I’ve been extremely dedicated and ambitious in my attempts at learning these skills. I’m still learning and completely self-taught in these fields, but rapidly growing a better understanding every day, and confident I can quickly adapt to any specific requirements of your company.  I’m also beginning to look into Agile business method in order to better understand the analyst role.

Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks for reading!

Re: Recent Grad- critique my cover letter please

sven7,

Generally, this is a good cover letter. It's very good that you projected your interest and field of expertise in the letter. It is also best that you included your strength and reinforced it by really stating here that you aiming for an analyst position. Though I am not familiar with the terms written herein. I also noticed that you are showing all positive and honest traits in your letter which is, of course, good.  It's good, it's all can say. But of course, there's always room to be best. Very good.

Have a great interview.

Yes, it is a well written cover letter. It should be short and to the point with all the details that you need to add. This one conforms to all of these.
