BA in Finance - Need guidance

Hello All,

After some analysis I am planning to start out my career as BA (Insurance Industry). I have few questions for the community:

1. Is Insurance Industry good enough?

2. How can I self-learn and get started without much expense? Something without taking any course but self learning material and books.

Thanks!

I don't have any real knowledge about the insurance industry, but you can review the thread below.  You may find some of the information valuable.  Also, if you have any specific questions about the Insurance Industry you can probably get more answer by posting them in the thread that I have provided.

Re: BA in Finance - Need guidance

Hi xoail,

Have you got some more information about what you are trying to find out.

The insurance industry is a huge industry in Europe and they tend to have the money to invest in both system enhancements and security. Personally I love working in the finance industry as a BA as there are so many areas to work in. It is not just about crunching numbers but delves into sales, product driven systems, job aids, customer applications, HR systems etc etc. I have noticed that a lot of the insurance companies that I have come across are using legacy systems so there will be plenty of work in the near future as they begin to migrate their systems across. However I am not sure if this is the case for all insurance companies.

What in particular do you want to self-learn?

Nathan
