IT Application Analyst to Business Analyst

Hello all!

I work in a large hospital/clinic as an IT Application Analyst and have been looking to transition into a Business Analyst role. I finally was granted an interview coming up in a couple weeks. Along with the interview, I have to present a case study.

The case study I need to put together is that "new metrics need to be developed to report out on the progress of training" for a new project within our company, as well as if we are on track to get everyone trained.

I need to describe the steps on how I would gather the business requirements for the metrics using data provided to me. The data I was given includes a number of users within different departments.

As someone that doesn't have a lot of background on the Business Analyst world, I wasn't sure where to start. My initial thought was to break down the training by department, but obviously leaving one or two people back for coverage while others were at training. I know the interviewers are probably looking for Business Analyst specific language but I'm not sure what that is.

Any thoughts? Any help is appreciated!
