My name is Patrick and I am currently working as a tier 3 software support analyst. Prior to this position I was a project cooridnator/team leader. No direct BA experience, but hopefully that will change in the future. I have a bachelors of science from Missouri State University in Hospitality Restaurant Adminstration and several certification ranging from CAPM, ITIL ST & OSA, Microsoft Office Excel and Access. I hope to learn a lot and eventually contribute. Any advice would be greatly appreciated and most welcomed.
Kind regards,
Patrick Wheeler
Hi Patrick and welcome!
Sounds like you have a good background with a lot of diversity from both technial and business perspectives.
Have you come up with a plan to move your career towards your BA goal? There is a 'getting started' forum discussion area (under Careers), with some good threads on how to start a BA career or move into a BA role from a different career path.
You'll find a lot of people with great advice on Modern Analyst forums, so don't hesitate to pose a question to the group or to share your experiences in discussions too.

Sandy thanks for the warm welcome!
I'll check out the discussion regarding getting started. My plan right now has altered a little bit. My wife took a position in the medical field which forced us to move. So I did a lateral, well actually went backwards in some regards, but the position has really given me a lot of fliexibility. I am supporting data, business, process, research, etc analyst. This has given me some inroads which I am beginning to leverage. However I still am find it challenging to move towards the BA direction. With strong technical skills companies always see those as levers they can pull. Which ends up with me being assigned a technical task. O well at least I am adding value to the company.
I did have any interview last Friday with a huge IT/Service company for a process engineer position, with me luck there. That would be a perfect position for me, at least in my minds eye ;)
