IT Support Specialist SJSU Moss Landing Marine Labs

Another Source’s client, San Jose State University, is recruiting an IT Support Specialist (titled Systems & IT Consultant internally) to join their Moss Landing Marine Laboratories team in Moss Landing, California. This role works a hybrid schedule with one day a week of telecommuting.

Moss Landing Marine Laboratories (MLML) administers the Master of Science program for California State Universities in northern and central California. They are dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in both education and research.

This position provides primary desktop computing, network, server, storage, and other Information Technology support to Moss Landing Marine Lab (MLML). You will: 

Establish and maintain working relationships with customers. 
Recommend changes to improve productivity and services. 
Identify and remediate problems. 
Develop practices and procedures. 
Perform highly technical work in support of departmental and campus IT operations. 

 

What you will be doing: 

30% End-user support 
25% Software & Operating Systems Support 
25% Computer Systems and Hardware Support 
20% Team Collaboration and Documentation 

 

What we would like to see from you: 

Thorough knowledge and demonstrated technical proficiency in Microsoft Windows-based workstations and server management (i.e. file sharing and print servers). 
Knowledge of alternative operating systems (MacOS, Linux, Unix). 
Comprehensive knowledge of operating systems, Active Directory, Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, databases, and other office productivity technologies. 
Demonstrated ability to operate workstation imaging solutions. 
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and direct work on assigned projects, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. 
Ability to disassemble, repair, and replace internal computer components. 
Ability to quickly adapt to changing environments and new technologies. 
Ability to plan, organize and maintain inventory of all systems and other IT assets. 
Strong customer service skills.
