Study Abroad/Scholarship Counselor
JOB DUTIES:
20% - Essential - Donor Aid Program Management:
Evaluates notification from donors to verify adequacy of data. Assigns fund codes to new programs. Establishes and maintains a filing system for programs and data. Communicates with donor representatives to provide information concerning notification criteria, invoicing procedures and student progress reports. Works closely with accounts receivable, including coordinating invoicing and receipt procedures with the Clemson University Student Financial Services Office to ensure accurate delivery of funds. Point person for scholarship checks received by the Financial Aid Office.
10% - Essential - University Department Select Scholarships:
Maintains, interprets, and helps to further understanding of current University regulations and communicates requirements to student, parents, faculty and staff. Process all department select programs which currently include Grants-in-Aid and Scholarships. Establishes budgets and reviews for proper spending. Confirms recipients meet University enrollment and academic guidelines. Assigns fund codes to new programs. Serves as a resource for Scholarship and Student Financial Aid personnel.
10% - Essential - University Honors and Awards:
Organizes processes for Honors and Awards Day. Prepares master list of available award for collegiate representatives. Organizes departmental selections and coordinates preparation of vouchers for receipt and distribution of award checks.
20% - Essential - Awards Fellowships by taking data from the online 61 report and entering into the student information system. Routinely checks budgets against spending and communicates with Graduate School and departments so funds can be spent as intended.
40% - Essential - Coordinates Financial Aid for Special Programs:
Provide primary counseling for students interested in special programs. Provide students with a comprehensive list of requirements. Assists in the delivery of financial aid to ISEP, linkage agreements, foreign exchange programs and Clemson abroad courses. Domestic programs include partnerships, and cooperative agreements between Clemson University and other institutions, and unique programs sanctioned as external programs. Coordinate with the Study Abroad Office and other University officials the sanctioning process.
10% - Essential - Counseling and Special Projects: Manages the completion of information requests. Evaluates requests for authenticity and student release. Represents the Student Financial Aid office at various scholastic functions as requested. Provides information to students and parents about donor-selected aid, advising them of restrictive criteria and application procedures, and furnishing contact names and information. Participates in selection process by verifying student data. Assists in researching scholarship information. Assists with establishing and maintaining scholarship files. Serves as a resource for Student Financial Aid personnel in matters concerning donor aid policies and procedures.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Bachelor's Degree and experience in student services programs.

No Supervisory Duties - Not responsible for supervising employees.

No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.
