Quantitative Analyst
LOCATION: Oakland, CA (currently hybrid) HOURS: Full time, exempt
The Opportunity
Resource Development Associates (RDA) is hiring for an experienced quantitative analyst familiar with mixed-methods community-based research. This position will be housed on our Community Health team and subject matter fluency in public health systems and advanced Excel and statistical software package (e.g., Stata, SPSS, R) skills are required. The quantitative analyst is a mid-level consulting position and can lead to other levels of employment.
About RDA and the Community Health Team
For more than 35 years, RDA has provided consultation to public, private, and social sector organizations working across the public safety net system to address persistent social, health, and economic problems. Our services include research, assessment, planning, grant writing, organizational development, training and coaching, facilitation, data system development, and evaluation. The Community Health team works collaboratively with a range of clients and stakeholders (e.g., County behavioral health departments, health and human services departments, and community-based organizations) on projects spanning evaluation of Mental Health Services Act projects; needs or capacity assessments for behavioral health and substance use systems of care; development of strategic plans; Whole Person Care and coordinated care efforts; county implementation of Assisted Outpatient Treatment programs; and alternative crisis system response.
What You’ll Achieve in Your First Year
As a quantitative analyst, you’ll be a data expert at the center of our multidisciplinary teams, employing your analytical skills and ability to translate data into digestible findings and recommendations that deliver innovative and meaningful results for our clients. You'll work on several consulting projects simultaneously. Here is a sample of what you can expect to accomplish in your first year:
Lead Analytic Planning and Data Collection Efforts
Obtain, organize, code, clean, and analyze large datasets, keeping sensitive case data protected in compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR, and other data security rules and regulations Develop and lead the implementation of analytic plans, outlining research methodology, questions, sampling, and iterating plans in a collaborative team environment Conduct inferential statistics in a social impact research setting, interpreting results in layman’s terms for broader audiences Serve as the go-to thought partner for analytic expertise, including supporting others in adjusting methodologies, developing tools, and ensuring the completeness, accuracy, and relevance of data visualization elements
Collaborate with and Advise Clients and Stakeholders
Conduct and lead the development of evaluation reports, needs assessments, and/or evaluation plans that are responsive to clients’ needs and goals and presents recommendations that help them shift from research to action Co-facilitate client stakeholder work sessions and public meetings
Support RDA’s Organizational and Team Development
Work as a team member with other staff on multiple projects and efforts Mentor and train peers and junior staff
What You’ll Bring to RDA
Strong quantitative skills and ability to utilize Excel, Stata, SPSS or similar for analyses Track record as an effective, efficient, and positive team member A quick learner and self-directed Demonstrated experience conducting and reporting on analyses for a variety of audiences, with an emphasis on quantitative data Experience working with culturally and ethnically diverse communities Strong attention to detail and time management skills 2-5 years related experience in social impact research or evaluation Graduate degree in fields related to RDA’s content and service areas preferred; additional experience may replace education Nice-to-have experience: GIS mapping, data dashboard, multilingual skills, electronic health record (EHR) data, homelessness management information system (HMIS) data, clinical assessment data (e.g., NOMS, CANS/ANSA, NMASSIT, PAF/KET, etc.)
