Hi guys,
I need your help in making a career changing decision...
I am in a IT service major working as IT BA for a RETAIL - eComm client for 4 years and one year in Banking domain. I have an engineering degree in IT systems.
I consider me to be in mid level BA with well rounded work experience in IT part along with strong BA skills.
Question 1 : So having invested 4 years in BA role, will I be able to move in to any other new domains (as in Banking , Insurance as required) purely based on a future MBA degree in that particular domian ?
In this case, I purely have my BA skills to back me up .... but willing to work in other challengin domains with a degree.
Question 2 : In my case , is it wrong to snatch a very good client site work in different(new) domain first purely get the work experience? and then think about domain...later..?
btw, I am open to do MBA in probably Finance/Insurance/Retail domains.. as required....
Thank you for your help.

Fibre,
Q1: You dont need an MBA to do these things. I dont know much of todays MBA, but when I did mine 20 years ago, it was a Generalist Business Degree. Lets say the opportunity for the next three years are in the Logistics domain - does that mean you need to have some logistics experience before you can work as a BA? I dont think so. I've worked in most domains, without having any qualification in that specific domain.
Q2: My suggestion for you would be to "hone" your generic BA skills. Domain knowledge is important; but if you want to invest in an MBA, do so; but not to garner domain knowledge, rather to know how to start/run a business.
warm regards,
K
Thank you very much K...
I will consider the options and as you said, I will look to consolidate my BA work more without getting lost much in to domains in which I work with.!!
Cheers
