BA in the CRM domain

Hi All,

I need some serious advice from all you senior BAs.

I started as a s/w programmer and moved to sales & marketing function primarily in the IT services industry. Later on in my current organization, I was offered the job of a BA to work with our customer who is a leader in outsource contact center management provide inbound and outbound sales and marketing services to its customers across industry verticals. I've worked on couple of projects (not core CRM implementation) with this client and have gained sound exposure in the sales and marketing processes including some process redesign work. Have demonstrated quantifiable results. Now I want to move on for better opportunities and better money. My concern is that though I've am quite strong on the process side of CRM I don't have any functional consulting experience on CRM packages (i.e Oracle, Siebel, MS Dynamics etc.). Do you guys think, this could become a major roadblock in my hope to chart a career in the CRM space? Please advise....

You should consider taking some formal courses in the various CRM packages (Siebel, MS Dynamics, etc.).  This would give you a good foundation on the knowledge side.  Once you do this, you could begin working on smaller CRM projects with the current client.
