In The Last Month, I've Received Emails Looking For ...
IS Business Automation Business Analyst / Business Process Automation
Researching It, I Find ...
"Business process automation (BPA), is the strategy a business uses to automate processes in order to contain costs. It consists of integrating applications, restructuring labor resources and using software applications throughout the organization."
Seems those are new names for what we basically do now ... Analyze Workflow Automation ... except it is starting to eliminate jobs ... the "restructuring labor resources" you probably have already seen and used them ... the Self-Check out cashiers and Kiosks at restaurants to order your food ... (eliminating someone's job).
The future may require you to also know Electronics and Hydraulics to build and write software for them.
News ... "In response to recent minimum wage hikes, Wendy’s is now replacing fast food workers with robots."
The cornerstone of human evolution has always centered around the basic question, 'How can we do things better?' This is an interesting subject that you have brought up,but the question here is, how do we as BAs still remain relevant?
Here's my take on this.
Technologies like Robotic Process Automation (RPA) are firmly gaining hold in the software based workflow management market to eliminate problems that enterprises have created on their own after mergers. acquisitions, restructurings and simply bad IT strategies. Problems like swivel-chairing, repetitions, increased cycle-times and bureaucracy should and must be eliminated by companies that wish to stay competitive. Savings realized as a result of successful implementations of such projects should be pumped back to employee re-skilling and other business expansion avenues.
Secondly, we as business analysts should always be on the hunt to learn new tools and techniques that make our jobs easier. A jab at a techno-functional role is highly recommended.
Whether we like it or not, adoption of automation technologies will be on the rise but it remains to be seen, in a given context, if a human is really replaceable.

"Thanks for posting this"
No Problem ... Sometimes I post thoughts and I like to read other people's thoughts ... that is how I can learn stuff too.
Years ago, In an interview for the Countrywide / Bank Of America merger (Contractor), I was asked ... On a scale of 1-10, how do I rate myself".
I said about 7-8 ... and they were surprised ... they asked why. I said that No One is a 10 ... there are always people that know something else or a better way.
I was hired, because they said there were people that claimed to be a 10 or even higher ... and they didn't want to work with ego trip people ... people that would not listen and even get into arguments.
