Hi everyone,
I have been looking at some training courses for Scrum. As a Business Analyst which is the best course to get some certification ? Scrum Master or Product owner. Does it depend on your role in the Scrum process ?
I am involved in fleshing out the user stories / storyboards in more details after the product owner / scrum master has decided the priorities for the user stories within the backlog. If none of the above are relevant (Scrum Master or Product owner) what else is there as a training course / certificate ?

On an Agile project, the main task of a BA is to come up with quality yet minimal documentation of the required bigger picture behavior of the system and - especially - the essential interrelationships between processes. All of this is per Agile "Guru" Scott Ambler. Yet, nooooooo body wants to address the specifics of what this means.

I have taken the Scrum CPO and CSM courses and both were valuable if you are working in scrum teams. Based on what you indicate you are doing as part of a scrum team I would suggest the CPO course if you can only take one, although taking both is worthwhile if you're new to scrum. Alternatively since you're not acting in either of these roles a course similar to Mike Cohn's User Stories for Agile requirements would be worthwhile. I took my CSM and CPO training from Mike and he has a wealth of experience using scrum and Agile in general. If taking the courses is too expensive there are some books and resources out there that can provide you wtih the majority of the content you would need to get up to speed.
I am curious if your product owner and scrum master are the same person - you said the PO/SM decides the priorities. Typically these roles are performed by separate people, unless the team is really small.

Many thanks for the information. It seem like both CPO and CSM have good value and worth taking. In the future I might have to take on both roles depending on which team I work with.
With regards to the team the product owner and scrum master are 2 persons. Mostly the product owner makes the decision on priotirties of user stories in the backlog but there are techical user stories / tasks to be completed and the scrum master makes decisions on which user stories the team will work within the sprint.
