Business process - getting started

Well i am working as Microsoft technical support officer in india at bangalore. i am an engineering graduate , who got job after 2 years. So i have a break. Now its almost 1 yr in this company. prior to this i was working in Java. I am a suin certified java programmer(2005). Business in my blood coz my father is running business for 25 years. I am planning for MBA after 2-- 3 yrs as well. Being a technical support officer i love to deal with customers , clients. Communication and convincing skills are my strength.

I  want to get into business process. i need ur guidance in starting a career in business process expertisation. I allways beleive in innovation in whatever we do. when people say - no its impossible - i say i will make it possible. Eventhough its little difficult to get into business process by just having 1 yr experience in ITES , there should be some innovative  approach. Like seminars, workshops and events, which might bring me a career for business process. I kindly request you to guide me in building a career in business process (SAP, consulting, Functionality etc) in long run.

I would really appreciate if you could respond to this thread.

Thank you
Riyaz

Re: Business process - getting started

Hi Riyaz,

One of the best things to do is begin modeling/mapping business processes for an organization that you have access to.  For example, you could map the business processes for the support function at your current company or map business processes for your father's business.

Just do it! is a good way to get started especially if this field is not totally foreign to you.

Here are a couple resources:

Hope this helps!

Re: Business process - getting started

Thank you so much for your instant reply adrian. i really appreciate it. well adrian as u doubt this field is foreign to me (Business analyst).

But i have involved in my fathers business for a while but not in depth. In my organization ie is Convergys, Bangalore (fortune 500 comapny) - they will not let me in mapping the business process until i have attained MBA from IIMs in india. what i mean is -  iam working under agent level where in i deal with customers. On the other hand ie is in my fathers business - i am working in Bangalore ( 450 KM away from my home town , where my fatrhers runs his business). so the ony time i am left with is week end offs. So i need to narrow down my objective as i need financial support thr my current job.

Having said the above - being in bangalore , how can i get into business analysis field. Is MBA the only way to attain a career in buiness process exdpertisation field.

Thank you

Riyazudeen

Hi Riyazudeen,

Since you have no experience nor training as a business analyst you should take some courses in business analysis and systems analysis.  I'm not too familiar with the training providers in India but one company that provides business analysis training is Spectra Mind Solutions.

Check them out... see if you can find anybody who took their courses before and has any feedback for you.
