Hi,

Can you google ? 2 1st links by "requirement magament tools list" took me the great articles for you:
    * http://www.jiludwig.com/Requirements_Management_Tools.html
    * http://www.paper-review.com/tools/rms/read.php
I guese there are not so many free tools but you can check all from 2nd link to find free.

You could also search by "free Requirement managements tools" and found http://easyweb.easynet.co.uk/~iany/other/vendors.htm

P.S. If community needs I can also read the free seminar how to use Wiki+IssueTracker+SVN to manage requirements.

Hey there

I asked a similar question a while back on the Yahoo Requirements Engineering group.

The question and responses are listed at http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/Requirements-Engineering/message/562

There are a few around, and there are some with some cheap licenses also.

As for Bas' responses, I know and also recommend reading the http://www.jiludwig.com/ site. It's a good intro to requirements management.

And remember - It's fine to have a tool, but unless you know how to use it you end up wasting a lot of time and effort.  An expert with an excel sheet is more effective than a dozen uninformed analysts with the best tools.

Lastly, we would love to get your feedback on the tool you select and use.  Please share your experience with us here.

Thanks for visiting and asking.

Craig,

I agree with you and we should separate tools and knowledge of requirements management theory. But if you have several hundred of reqs it's really hard to manage it by Word or Excel.

Re: Open Source/Freeware Tools for Requirements Management

bas is right, several hundred requirements is almost impossible to manage with Word or Excel.  This is especially true when you need to track changes to these documents over time, manage security, etc.

I realize that this was posted a while ago; however, our company uses Axiom which is a completely free RM tool:  http://www.iconcur-software.com/demo.html.  Or, you can just download and start using it:  http://www.iconcur-software.com/download.html.

We like it because it integrates pretty seamlessly with Microsoft Word and is good for distributed teams.

Hope this help

Regards,

Robert
