Workflow Director Paves the Way for Business Improvement Initiatives

San Diego, CA – April 07, 2009 – BP Logix, a provider of web-based business process automation and reporting solutions, today announced that TLT-Babcock selected BP Logix Workflow Director

Since 1975, TLT-Babcock has provided heavy duty air and material handling equipment for thousands of critical installations across many industries. Its primary customers range from utility power plants to heavy industrial manufacturing installations including cement plants, steel mills, pulp and paper mills, mining, and subway and tunnel applications. A subsidiary of the New York Blower Company, TLT-Babcock competes globally to deliver custom solutions for air and material handling demands. TLT-Babcock’s corporate offices are located in Fairlawn, Ohio. Manufacturing and assembly plants are located in Medina, Ohio.

As part of the company’s aggressive process improvement plan, one of the mandates for Jason Woodruff, Project Manager, was to streamline existing processes, building in more efficiency and eliminating redundant information and errors. TLT-Babcock was also experiencing problems associated with paper documents that were often problematic or difficult to locate, as well as business rules and processes that needed to be reevaluated. While he initially sought a solution to provide document control and electronic forms, Woodruff quickly determined that automating workflows and tracking approvals offered an even greater benefit – and was in line with the company’s philosophy of process improvement.

While most of TLT-Babcock’s documentation was stored in electronic files, it was cumbersome to locate information. “The arduous process of looking at the shared drive, in file cabinets, and sorting through emails with attachments every time we wanted to find a document, could take hours each day to find simple answers,” noted Woodruff.
After evaluating both BPM suites and point products, Woodruff initiated a trial of Workflow Director. He invited representatives from departments across the company to determine if the technology would be useful in their respective areas. Agreeing that BP Logix is well suited to address its needs, Woodruff will be rolling out Workflow Director one department at a time, beginning with Engineering, then following with Procurement, QA, Shipping, Sales and Project Management. Once those departments are running, Woodruff will turn his attention to Accounting, Human Resources and the Aftermarket Division. “We are seeing that Workflow Director provides the capabilities we need, is not overly complex or counter-intuitive. And with the BP Logix technology, finding the information we need is instantaneous,” commented Woodruff.

“We are pleased that TLT-Babcock has already experienced improvements to its business processes, “stated Edward Skiko, CEO of BP Logix, Inc. “As TLT-Babcock continues to implement Workflow Director across the company, we know that there will be additional opportunities to automate and streamline its processes, as well as gain additional visibility and greater control over its business,” Skiko concluded.
