San Diego, CA – August 19, 2009 – BP Logix, a provider of web-based business process automation and reporting solutions, today announced that Multi-Chem®, a global provider of oilfield production chemicals, selected BP Logix Workflow Director to improve its business processes. Establishing criteria that would enable the company to both mirror and improve on existing business processes and ensure that all information was standardized, Multi-Chem chose and deployed Workflow Director to create the workflows and forms required to support business users across HR, Accounting and IT.

Employing its products and technologies to meet the chemical challenges associated with production, processing and transportation of oil and gas Multi-Chem offers oilfield products, gas well treatments and pipeline solutions designed to enhance production. Serving the worldwide energy market and with offices and operations around the world, Multi-Chem provides production chemicals that address issues including flow assurance, enhanced gas recovery, fracturing technology and pipeline treatments. With hundreds of customers around the world, Multi-Chem has been one of the fastest-growing companies in the production chemicals industry.

Multi-Chem employees access forms and information - from capital expenditures and new hire authorizations to time off, training requests and expense forms - through its company portal. The company did not, however, incorporate workflows that could address the processes reflected by those forms. Multi-Chem did not want to rely on email to determine the status of a request; it was looking for a way to formalize its processes and increase efficiency.

Fernando Coronado is Multi-Chem’s Software Applications Manager. Recognizing the need to pinpoint the status of approvals required for its business processes and the disposition of key documents, Coronado sought a solution that would reflect the processes employees were currently using, control the workflow of those processes and identify the location of specific documents and their status, He wanted to streamline and standardize the company’s processes and create a more formal environment, one that could be monitored and audited.

Coronado’s team developed a set of criteria for an electronic workflow solution. They needed to: 1) Know where a form was at any point in time, 2) Be able to send email alerts and electronic notifications, 3) Provide electronic signatures, 4) Ensure that information (for example name and date) was standardized and 5) Be able to designate who could see and submit forms. After a two month evaluation process that involved feedback from business users and an evaluation of competitive workflow management and BPM offerings, Multi-Chem selected BP Logix Workflow Director to manage its business processes.

Multi-Chem started with one of its most critical forms, the Personnel Request Form (PRF), used for both new hires and new positions. The company then went on to develop forms and workflows for Capital Expenditures, Health and Safety, Training and Customer Profiles. Based on the success of those workflows and processes, Multi-Chem then expanded the PRF to handle the employee transfers, promotions and new requisitions, as well as a number of other HR functions. The business process itself has also been revised to reflect the expanded functionality of this form.

“All of our processes are now captured with Workflow Director -- and they are more fluid and efficient. Our forms are less likely to get lost - and everyone knows where to find the forms in order to complete them,” stated Coronado. There is a uniform acceptance of the new intuitive, browser-based system. Employees appreciate the ease of use – and the efficiencies they have gained. “Workflow Director is a very powerful tool. We appreciate that it enables our internal departments to more easily and accurately track documents – and their progress,” concluded Coronado.

“Multi-Chem is a company focused on quality and achieving operational efficiency,” observed Edward Skiko, CEO of BP Logix. “Workflow Director enabled the company to formalize its business processes - and to create a standard that provides more efficiency as well as the checks and balances a growing company requires. With Workflow Director, Multi-Chem VPs can approve documents from their Blackberries regardless of where in the world business is being conducted,” concluded Skiko.
