ANSWER

First, let’s define GPT.  GPT stands for “Generative Pre-trained Transformer” and it refers to a type of deep learning artificial intelligence model that is trained on large amounts of text data to generate human-like text.

  • The term "transformer" refers to a type of deep learning model enabled by a neural network architecture that was introduced in a 2017 paper by Vaswani et al. Transformers are very well-suited to NLP activities because they can handle long-range dependencies between words and phrases, which is important for tasks such as language translation and summarization.
  • The term “generative” refers to the ability of the machine to generate high-quality, human-like, and (ideally) accurate text that is virtually indistinguishable from human-written text.
  • The term “pre-trained” refers to the fact that GPT models have been pre-trained on massive amounts of data from a variety of sources such as books, research papers, and, of course, the internet.  This allows the model to learn a wide range of linguistic patterns, relationships, and world knowledge. This pre-training process enables the models to perform a variety of NLP tasks, such as translating language, answering questions, and summarizing information.

A business/systems analyst could use generative pre-trained models, such as ChatGPT, in several ways to improve their efficiency and productivity:

  • Idea Generation - GPTs can be used to generate ideas for new products or services, or to identify new market opportunities. By asking open-ended questions, a business analyst can prompt the model to generate creative ideas and suggestions.
  • Customer Engagement -  GPTs can be used to engage with customers and gather feedback. A business analyst can use such models to develop chatbots or virtual assistants that can interact with customers, answer their product or service questions, and provide support.
  • Problem Solving - GPTs can be used to find solutions to complex technical problems that an analyst might encounter. The analyst can ask the model a specific question or describe a problem, and the model can generate possible solutions based on its vast knowledge database and natural language processing capabilities.
  • Research and Analysis - GPTs can help a business/systems analyst in conducting research and analysis by providing them with relevant information on various technical and business topics. The analyst can ask the model to provide insights on a specific topic or trend, and the model can generate reports or summaries based on the available market data.
  • Requirement Gathering - GPTs can assist a business analyst in gathering and documenting system requirements by answering questions related to the functional and non-functional requirements of a system. The analyst can use the model to generate structured and well-formatted requirement documents, which can then be reviewed and refined by stakeholders.
  • Decision Support -  GPTs can be used to provide decision support for complex business problems. By inputting data and asking questions, GPT models can provide recommendations or predictions based on historical data or other relevant factors.
  • Communication -  GPTs can facilitate communication between a business analyst and other stakeholders involved in a project. The analyst can use the models to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a language they can understand or to translate business requirements into technical specifications for developers

Very nice overview. With additional details and perhaps one or two additional ideas generated from brainstorming with B/A's or even with Chat GPT itself, could be the basis of an interesting paper.
Note several recent Youtube videos which actually give some nice examples of specific questions to ask CHAT GPT to help develop ideas. Not specially targetted at B/A's, but can be certainly applied to BA work.
What's nice about your article is that it is short and on point. Thanks for thisl

Do your homework prior to the business analysis interview!

Having an idea of the type of questions you might be asked during a business analyst interview will not only give you confidence but it will also help you to formulate your thoughts and to be better prepared to answer the interview questions you might get during the interview for a business analyst position.  Of course, just memorizing a list of business analyst interview questions will not make you a great business analyst but it might just help you get that next job.
