What are the benefits of Visual Models?

ANSWER

Visual models communicate much larger amounts of information in a comparatively short period of time versus written communication and documentation.  As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.  The organization, structure, and order of information in visual models can also help an analyst ensure completeness through easier identification of gaps and missing information.

Visual models can also be used to reduce complexity.  Different models can be used to capture different aspects of a problem domain.  Sometimes the specific type of model chosen is driven by the problem domain itself. By creating different views of a problem domain, analysts can choose to only display the most relevant information and hide other complexities.  This facilitates comprehension of the most important aspects of the information being modeled.

Do your homework prior to the business analysis interview!

Having an idea of the type of questions you might be asked during a business analyst interview will not only give you confidence but it will also help you to formulate your thoughts and to be better prepared to answer the interview questions you might get during the interview for a business analyst position.  Of course, just memorizing a list of business analyst interview questions will not make you a great business analyst but it might just help you get that next job.
