BA interview question
In an interview for (2-4) years of experience level BA, I was asked a question that "What will you do in a situation when your client is telling about a new business requirement in the midst of stream when the requirement is being already free zed and development has already started, and putting that requirement will really crunch your deadline? Can any one suggest the best possible answer for this open end question.

Re: BA interview question

It depends 1? If the item IS NOT on the critical path, you can probably squeeze it in. if the item IS on the critical path, “something” will have to go to make “space” for the new item. And as a PM/BA you’ll have to negotiate the “space” with the stake holders.

It depends 2? If you were running an Agile programme, this is not a problem. This kind of thing of having additional requirements is sort of expected; another items must just fall out of the time-bucket!

It depends 3? If you have spare Time, the other 16 hours in the day or the extra two days at the end of the working week, you may work over-time to squeeze it in. This kind of request will cost extra money and resources and you need to negotiate resources with the stake holders.

It depends 4? If the contract is "fixed price" ….the Change Control Board (CCB) will pontificate …this is very political as the agreed price did NOT include the new requirement.

It depends 5? If the contract is "time and material" … great, we’ll add it to the list and charge like lots. First we’ll fly in a consultant from overseas with the highest unfavourable exchange rate for the initial quote; then we’ll outsource to the country with the most favourable rate to do the job.

Otherwise ...

warm regards,

K
