Quick requirements elicitation for configuration project - How?
Modified By Terry on 10/18/2012 12:34:30 PM)

Software platform is already selected so it's a constraint to the solution, but good in that it’s a known quantity.

Reduced project timeline is calling for configuration requirements of said system to be completed in short order.

Client has a list of basic/vague features (e.g., needs workflows, ability to create new documents, etc.)

Since I don’t have time luxury, what techniques are suggested to get the client into the tool without full elicitation and elaboration?

I suspect more will be required of my situation. Fire away

Hi Terry,

Ideally the selected software platform has a list of areas which are configurable.  First create the list of what can be configured with a short description of each item and what it configures/governes.  Prioritize the list of items based on client feedback.

For each item - the software package should have way of capturing that informatoin (template, list of available options, business rules, etc.).  Setup working session for each item (in order of priority) with the client to jointly complete those configuration templates.

Just a thought!

Adrian
