First Senior Management Presentation with SWOT
Modified By Victoria on 11/18/2011 11:43:46 AM)

Hi,

I will be making my first SWOT presentation to senior managment next week, and I was wondering if the community can chip in to a successful presentation

The SWOT is prepared for a company in the IT Industry and was based on articles  that I was asked to analyize

From these papers I have content for my SWOT document, as well as a summary bullet point pictorial presentation

Apart from content and summary presentations what else can I add to my report presentation that will make it stand out

Thanks

Victoria:

From a BA perspective, consider:

*  For function/process requirements gathering, is the focus on understanding standalone requirements, or is it on understanding the essential interrelationships between the requirements?  This, probably more than anything else drives success or failure.  The second approach is the way to go.

*  Same as the above in gathering data requirements, but remember that understanding fuctional/process requirements leads data gathering.

*  Irregardless of whether the project is called Waterfall, or Agile, is the focus on gathering minimal requirements that are at the same time quality requirements.

*  Has the project been formally scoped out (ie has a Context Diagram been created and verified).  If not you will have scope creep and missing requirement

*  Is the approach as top down as possible.  For bigger projects, bottom up projects run the risk of "drowining in an ocean of details."

*  If the project is larger scale, then, to handle complexity, decomposition is needed.   In this case, is a logical, natural approach to patitioning being taken, else the resulting decomposition will have minimal use.

*  Can the project obtain the bigger picture?  At the bigger picture level, systems have non definable sequence.   Few know how to handle such.

 Hi Tony,

When you're not banging on about DFDs you make a lot of sense!

Kimbo

P.S. I saw your post about the 'big picture' in Agile User Stories. No one seems to have answered. Think we just do what we usually do and then create user stories to define our functions rather than whatever we use now. One of these days I'm going to have to investigate this in detail. Don't want to become a dinosaur. Might be easier to just retire and leave it to the youngsters though :-)
