 Hi All,

I have more than 6 years of experience in IT industry and have worked in Web Technology like Java,

Mainframes and i am well versed with Oracle and open sources like C, C++.

In my career i was involved in Requirement gathering, Designing, Coding, Testing,

Onshore-Offshore co ordination, leading team and have worked at both onshore and offshore.

I have majorly worked in Banking and Finance domain and have exposure to Insurance and Retail domain.

I am now interested to add something more to my carreer and give it some new shape,

i was always interested in analysing Business and now i have the knowledge

of various technologies with me. I have a Masters degree in Computer Science and a

Post Graduate diploma in Management Information Systems and Computer Applications(This

course covered some subjects of Business Management and some of Computer Applications).

Please give me some guidance to proceed further to meet my aspirations.

Re: IT professional towards Business Analysis

Hi

I am in a similar position having worked as an analyst programmer for some years I was promoted to the role of business analyst and then senior business analyst.  I chair the project workshops/status meetings and work with the business to define processes, etc however I have no formal qualifications.

I have not been asked to follow any methodology and the nature of the role is extremely 'free-form'.  All my knowledge has been gleaned whilst on the job and I am keen to try and formalise this experience.

My fear is that if I apply for a BA role elsewhere I will be required to have certifications etc and have none and have not used any recognised methods, so will naturally be overlooked.

Can anybody provide a 'game plan' for becoming a fully qualified Business Analyst?  What qualifications should I be trying to get - which are the most recognised?  Should I be trying to get industry recognised qualifications or are there alternatives courses that provide a better grounding and use better methodologies?

Any advise would be appreciated.
