Getting my foot in the door

I will be receiving my masters in MIS this summer. I have my B.B.A in finance, management, and marketing. Currently I work for a small start-up retail company as  a Business Manager and have been involved with a couple of IT projects. Anyways, I have had a bunch of interviews but find that I lack in the technical department. I get all the way to the last interview and find out that this is my short coming. I know that all I need to do is get my foot in the door and I can pretty much do the rest but it seems almost impossible to get in. My problem is that I will have the degrees but no real expericence. My question is what would my next step be? I have worked with many consulting firms but they also have a hard time finding anything for me. I'm willing to start from the bottom and work my way up.
