International Institute of Business Analysis officially launches new BA designation

(Toronto, ON, January 4, 2011) – Today, with the launch of the exam for the new Certification of Competency in Business Analysis™ (CCBA™), business analysts around the world can fast track their desire to acquire a professional designation.

In the six weeks since the CCBA™ exam application was made available online, over 500 individuals in almost 40 countries have expressed interest in obtaining the new designation. Successful applicants can now schedule an exam date at over 400 computer-based testing centers in North America and at 100 international sites.

Michael Gladstone, CBAP, Vice President of Certification, says, “We have been delighted but not surprised by the high number of individuals from around the world who immediately started the process to obtain the new designation when we made the online application available on November 29, 2010 at www.theiiba.org.” He adds, “Business analysts and their employers are asking for this new certification, and we expect the CCBA™ designation to become the industry standard for business analysts.”

Candidates can apply for the CCBA™ designation after they have accumulated about two and a half years of business analysis experience within the past seven years. Candidates need to demonstrate a robust commitment to professional development, adhere to the code of conduct for business analysts, and be proficient in knowledge areas outlined in the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK® Guide).

IIBA also offers the Certified Business Analysis Professional™ (CBAP®) certification. Senior business analysts strive to obtain this designation after gaining a level of relevant work experience that makes them fully proficient in all areas of the profession. These individuals are often considered to be elite members of the business analysis community. Details on how to obtain both designations can be reviewed at www.theiiba.org
